Our Story

We’re Bailey and Kyle, and we’ve been dreaming up Stoney Creek Flower Farm since 2022.

I (Bailey) have always loved gardening and flowers in particular, which has undoubtedly been passed to me from my mom and grandma. By day, I am a social worker in the anti-sexual violence, domestic violence, and human trafficking field. I love my job, but I always said if I had to choose a different path I would have been a flower farmer.

Kyle is an actuary and works in health insurance, but is also an excellent handyman and loves a good project - in fact, we remodeled our current home, a 1916 fixer upper in Troy, from basement to attic almost entirely on our own!

We’ve been married since 2021, love to travel and have been lucky to take some pretty amazing trips. We also have two dogs and a cat - Onyx, Atlas, and Hazel - who we are totally obsessed with.

In 2022, Kyle and I bought a 6 acre property in Oakland Township with plans to build our “forever” home there, and realized that this was a great opportunity to pursue growing flowers on this kind of scale.

We really appreciate all of you following along and supporting us! We can’t wait to share our beautiful, local, and sustainable flowers with you.

Local

Choosing to support a local flower farmer isn't just a transaction; it's an investment in your community and our planet. Here's why it matters:

Freshness Guaranteed: Local flowers are harvested at their peak, ensuring you enjoy the freshest flowers.

Reducing Carbon Footprint: Buying local means fewer miles traveled from farm to vase, which helps cut down on carbon emissions.

Transparency and Trust: Know where your flowers comes from and how they are grown.

Sustainable

At Stoney Creek Flower Farm, we take pride in our commitment to pesticide-free and herbicide-free flower farming, and here's why it matters:

Protecting Pollinators: Pesticides and herbicides can harm the very creatures that make our flowers bloom. By going pesticide-free, we create a safe haven for pollinators like bees and butterflies.

Healthier Ecosystems: Our field is of life, from bumblebees to earthworms. Pesticide-free farming fosters a balanced ecosystem, where natural predators keep pests in check.

Safeguarding the Environment: Pesticides can seep into the soil and water, harming not just our farm but also our surroundings. By going chemical-free, we protect our local environment.

Natural Beauty: Our flowers are as pure and natural as can be. They're grown with love and care, without any harmful chemicals, making them a stunning addition to any setting.

Your Health Matters: By choosing our pesticide-free blooms, you're ensuring that the flowers you bring home are safe for you, your loved ones, and the environment.

Regenerative

At Stoney Creek Flower Farm, we're proud to embrace no-till farming practices, and here's why you should consider their importance too:

Preserving Soil Health: No-till farming minimizes soil disturbance, keeping it rich in nutrients and organic matter. Healthy soil means healthier crops and a more sustainable future.

Reducing Erosion: By leaving the soil undisturbed, we prevent erosion, which is a major environmental concern. No more precious topsoil being washed away by rain and wind!

Conserving Water: No-till farming requires less irrigation. The soil's natural structure is preserved, helping it retain moisture more effectively, even during dry spells.

Carbon Sequestration: No-till farming can help capture and store carbon in the soil, playing a role in mitigating climate change. It's a small change that makes a big difference.

Supporting Biodiversity: Healthy soil is home to countless microorganisms and beneficial insects. No-till farming helps maintain a thriving ecosystem beneath the surface.

By choosing products from no-till farms like ours, you're not just getting high-quality, sustainable flowers, but you're also supporting practices that prioritize the health of our planet.
